Men's Tennis' Zvi Lantsberg Named First-Team Academic All-District

This marks the second straight season that Lantsberg has earned first-team academic all-district honors

May 26, 2005

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers junior men's tennis player Zvi Lantsberg has been named to the first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III At-Large team for the second straight season. The at-large team, selected by CoSIDA, consists of student-athletes that participated in bowling, golf, rifle, men's volleyball, gymnastics, skiing, water polo, ice hockey, swimming, wrestling, tennis and lacrosse.

Lantsberg has a 3.91 GPA in international business. He tied his career-high with 10 singles wins this past season including three victories in his final four matches. He saw action in 19 singles matches mostly at number six singles this past season.

Lantsberg was awarded the Hugh McEniry Award for the second time at Charlotte's recent all-sports banquet. The Hugh McEniry Award is given to the Charlotte male student-athlete with the highest GPA.

As a result of being named first-team academic all-district, he will represent the district on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors. Ola Jonsson (first-team, 2002) and Chris Mark (second-team, 1992-93) are the only two Charlotte men's tennis players to ever earn Academic All-American honors.
