Assistant Coach John Gandar is a fixture around the Charlotte 49er men's tennis program. He has been associated with the program as a volunteer coach since 1986. He really played an integral role with the program as interim coach when former coach Don Cline resigned at the start of the 1993 spring season and before coach Jim Boykin took over in the fall of 1993.
A doctor of economics, he is a professor and the chair of the department of economics. He brings the same enthusiasm to the tennis courts that makes him one of the campus' most popular teachers.
